On Mother's Day, we had the priviledge of having Adam dedicated to the Lord at our church here in Richmond - Grace Community Baptist. What an exciting time! We praise the Lord for the joy he has given us in Adam and are praying that he will grow to fall in love with God and His Word. What a tremendous responsibility we have been given as parents...we are praying even now that God will touch his heart and draw Adam to Himself one day.
For now, I can only rejoice in this tremendous blessing that we have been given. Adam has been such a sweet, adorable baby and has filled our lives with such joy! He is now 11 lbs. 2 oz. and growing! At our last Dr. appointment, he was given 5 shots! Ouch! It was almost too much for me to watch him experiencing that pain, but he really is a tough little boy and cried only momentarily, then was just fine. The hardest part for me was having to go to work immediately after the appointment was over. I just wanted to stay and hold my baby all day and just be there in case he just needed some extra loving...just those motherly instincts I guess... :) Also, he has been sleeping 8-9 hours per night for about 1 month now, which is amazing!!
It's incredible how God knows just what we need. I realize that EVERY parent prays that their child will sleep through the night at 4-5 weeks of age, but for me this was especially true. I headed back to work when he was 6 weeks old and was preparing myself for things to change...for Adam to suddenly decide the night before I had to return to work that he would be up every 2-3 hours, but it never happened. In fact, he slept through the night my entire first week back and then on Friday night/Saturday morning he woke up at 3 am. It was as if he knew that Mommy could go back to sleep if she needed to on Saturday...he's so thoughtful, this baby of mine. :) Of course, I know who really gets the credit...what an awesome God we have!
